Cebuana's aspiring singer Janine Berdin wins one of the most prestigious singing competition in the Philippines today, It's Showtime's Tawag ng Tanghalan and brought home the whooping P2 Million cash prize.
Janine Berdin came a long way after she first tried her luck as contestant on Star Circle Quest: Search for the Next Kiddie Superstars 4 where she finished as the 4th semi-finalist. She also ventured to several acting stints yet had to go back to Cebu for her studies.
The newly-declared winner of Tawag ng Tanghalan also joined The Voice Kids PH and Tawag ng Tanghalan Season 1 but ultimately failed.
During the finals of Tawag ng Tanghalan (TNT) held at the Aliw Theater, the 16-year-old Janine Berdin blazed the spirits of everyone with her rendition of Bamboo classics, "Tatsulok," "Noypi," and "Hallelujah."
Janine Berdin brought home the P2 Million cash prize, and from that she will receive a brand new house and lot from Camella Homes, ultimate vacation package from 2GO, a musical gadgets package from JB Music, a livelihood package from Siomai house, premium television sets from HKTV, and management contracts.
The "Cadets My Girl of Cebu," Janine Berdin got a total of 96.11 percent votes from the judges and texters. Named second placer was Ato Arman of Mindanao who got 74.27 percent votes, while third placer Steven Paysu of North America got 61.80 percent votes.
The judges in Saturday's competition were Filipino singers Rey Valera, Mitoy Yonting, Ogie Alcasid, Jaya, Billy Crawford, Yeng Constantino, Karla Estrada, Nyoy Volante, Jed Madela, K Brosas, Karylle Padilla, Kyla, Eric Santos, and Rico J. Puno.
